Healing Beyond Survival
Sometimes the ways we learn to cope, protect ourselves, or keep going are exactly what help us make it through difficult seasons. But over time, those same patterns can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, our relationships, or the life we want to be living.
Hi, I’m Kayleigh! I believe therapy should feel personal, practical, and connected to real life. I work with adults, couples, families, teens, and children who are navigating medical trauma, chronic illness, healthcare burnout, anxiety, life transitions, grief, and the seasons of life that can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves or the people we love.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent several years working in healthcare. That experience gave me a close-up view of how illness, uncertainty, caregiving, loss, and high-pressure medical environments can affect both the people receiving care and the professionals providing it. I especially enjoy working with patients, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and families who are carrying burnout, grief, moral distress, perfectionism, compassion fatigue, the loss of patients, or the emotional weight that can come with illness and caring for others.
My connection to this work is personal, too. As a two-time cancer survivor and someone who grew up alongside a sibling with epilepsy, I understand some of the complexities that can come with diagnosis, treatment, ongoing medical uncertainty, survivorship, and learning to trust your body again. Sometimes the medical crisis ends, but the fear, grief, changes in identity, and sense your body has changed remain. That perspective is one reason I feel especially drawn to working with people living with cancer, cancer survivorship, chronic illness, and families impacted by difficult medical experiences.
Therapy Beyond the Couch
Not everyone does their best thinking while sitting across from someone in an office. I offer walk-and-talk therapy and nature-based therapy for clients who feel more comfortable processing while moving or spending time outdoors.
I believe movement can be a powerful part of healing. There can be something grounding about walking side by side, noticing what is around you, and giving your nervous system more room to breathe and settle. Depending on your goals, sessions may include walking, reflection, mindfulness, noticing patterns in the natural environment, or simply allowing movement and nature to become part of the therapeutic process.
Outdoor therapy is always optional. Traditional office-based sessions are available, and we can decide together what environment feels best for you. We can also always change it up!
My Approach
My style is warm, relational, collaborative, and active. I want therapy to be a place where you feel genuinely known while also having space to challenge patterns, build new skills, and make meaningful changes.
We may talk, reflect, laugh, practice new ways of communicating, explore the experiences that shaped you, and identify what may be getting in the way of the life or relationships you want. I also believe meaningful change happens both inside and outside of therapy, so I may incorporate reflection exercises, practical tools, or homework to help our work carry into your everyday life.
I see therapy as a process of understanding yourself more deeply, reconnecting with what matters, and intentionally choosing how you want to move forward.
A Little More About Me
Outside of the therapy room, I have a huge heart for animals, almost always have coffee in my hand, and feel most grounded when I’m outside. I love spending time with my husband and our two dogs, walking, traveling, watching football, and noticing the small things that make ordinary life meaningful.
I value authenticity, curiosity, humor, connection, and creating a space where you can show up as a real person rather than feeling like you have to perform therapy “correctly.”
If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, a bit of humor, challenge you when needed, and help you move toward meaningful change, I’d love to chat more and see if we’re a good fit!
