Jordan Riffel, MS, T-LMFT
Real honesty for real growth.
Hi, I’m Jordan Riffel T-LMFT. Now, I understand that there are countless options for therapists out there. From the seasoned social workers to the online counselors, I can appreciate the journey you may be on as you shop therapists. It’s a good thing to do - you want to ensure that your therapist aligns with your personal values, approaches situations in a way that feels authentic to you, or maybe they just have that vibe where you know you’d feel comfortable telling them anything. Whatever your criteria may be, I want to tell you more about me and explain why I may or may not be the best fit for you.
First, my philosophy in the therapy room is this - it is more caring to be honest than it is to be soft. Sort of a harsh statement, I know, but let me explain. You see, I believe in a sort of karmic result when it comes to the therapeutic journey - what you put into it is what you will get out of it. And that’s true for the therapist and client alike. So, when I approach matters in therapy, I will offer empathy, compassion, and understanding, but I will also not skimp out on honest, hard truth. How are we meant to grow if we cannot be honest with ourselves and with each other?
When it comes to presenting problems, I accept any and all into my room. I especially love working with couples who find themselves at the end of their ropes or those who are struggling to find peace in their relationships - Maybe what used to work for you just isn’t serving you anymore, but you’re not sure where to go or what to do next. I also love working with new couples who are working towards engagement and marriage - no matter how long you’ve been together, there’s always conversations we avoid or forget to have. Finally, I love working with those who are in caregiving roles - mothers/parents, healthcare workers, teachers, etc. - if you are struggling with feelings of resentment towards those you care for (also called compassion fatigue) or you are searching for identity outside of caring for others, I just might be your gal.
Now that you have an idea of me as a therapist, I’d love to read you in on me as a person. I graduated from Kansas State University in 2023 with my BS in Communication Sciences and Disorders (aka Speech Therapy). After that, I had a short stent in the real estate and marketing world, where I learned about networking, relationship building, and how to put myself out there, both in the real world and online. In August of 2024, I went back to school and earned my MS in Family Therapy from Friends University KC. When I’m not in school or working, I love engaging in the arts - namely singing and theatre, doing puzzles while I listen to podcasts, and taking my dogs for a walk with my husband, Kyle.
Now, I know there’s a lot of information there, and I totally understand if you are still left with questions. Picking a therapist is hard - I get it. But if you are looking for a space where authenticity, compassion, and honesty are at the forefront, feel free to reach out. I would love to chat with you more about the journey of therapy, my style, or any other questions you may have. Until then, I hope your day/week/month/year is filled with joy, laughter, and self-love. I look forward to hearing from you!

Financial constraints shouldn't stand in the way of getting the support you deserve. Because I believe therapy should be accessible, I offer a limited number of reduced-rate, discounted slots in my practice for clients navigating financial hardship.
These spaces are reserved to ensure high-quality care remains within reach, but because availability is limited, slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you feel we would be a good fit but need a reduced rate to make therapy work for your budget, please send me an email directly - jordan@refined-therapy.com. We can openly discuss your situation, my current discounted availability, and how we can best support your journey forward.
